Hayden and his Pup-In-The-Box

Just a few pics from today of Hayden and Leia. As you can see, she likes to get into her toybox to look for something to chew. Better that than the house!

After 10 long days of a sick puppy, she has finally taken a turn for the better. This after 2 trips to the vet, 2 more rounds of medicine and a change to prescription puppy food! What fun?!
She is able to make it about 4 hours at night before a trip outside, and is doing great with the crate. So I think we are getting there. This week we start the gradual transition to her new puppy food so hopefully things will continue to go well.

Hayden is excited as this is his last week of school. We are soooo ready for summer. We were able to join the country club this summer and have already been able to hang out at the pool the past 2 weekends. Hayden absolutely loves the water and could stay there all day. And Todd can play his golf then join us at the pool afterwards.

Last weekend, Nana and GrandBob "surprised" Hayden with a visit and we enjoyed having them. Of course the big boys played golf every day and we just kicked back at the pool.

We are looking forward to our nephew visiting in a few weeks. He will be staying with us for about 3 weeks and Hayden is very excited. Then we look forward to Grammy and Grandpa being here for Hayden's 9th birthday (wow, 9 already!) during the July 4th weekend.

An exciting Idol evening....

So Hayden has been waiting for Leia to be able to watch American Idol with him and tonight he got his chance. We really were not that into it since our favorite, Danny, was out last week. But we still had to watch. As you can see, Leia was not all that thrilled with either contestant!

Yes, we are probably crazy but...

It is for Hayden!! At least that is what I keep telling myself!

After a few months of waiting , Hayden has a new playmate (or little sister as he calls her).

We have talked about his for quite some time and figured it is just a dog and every little boy needs one, right? Angie would have been fine with adopting an older dog, but Hayden wanted a puppy. So on Friday night, we drove about 2 1/2 hours to Northern PA to spend the night at a B&B in New York state. Saturday morning we headed to Endless Mountain Labs in PA for our 9am appointment to "pick" our puppy. We had first choice female and it was a hard decision. To walk in and see 6 little girls looking at you was tough. But after about 30 minutes, Leia (yes, after Princess Leia) was chosen. She is an English Yellow Lab. Then we settled in for a nice ride home. But of course, it never works that way! About 45 minutes into the trip, Leia had a "poo explosion" in the back seat. What a way to start. And those that know me, know I don't do well with "yuck". But we managed to get it cleaned up and made it the rest of the way home.

Saturday night was long as she felt the need to cry most of the night in her crate and go out every 2 hours to potty. Sunday was even more fun as she got sick on us. Now we were expecting the new puppy runs due to stress, but then she was vomiting and shaking. She could barely move and would not eat. So Sunday evening we were already at the vet for a shot and medicine, but no explanation as to what was wrong. Thankfully, Sunday night was a little better as she was so wiped out and realized that WE were going to set the schedule, not her. Monday morning saw her feeling much better and acting like a puppy again, and no issues, but I was overwhelmed and melted down. Definitely due to lack of sleep and a little stress?! And last night, I set the schedule and we had an even better night. Right now, she is sleeping and there is nothing cuter!

I'll post again in a few days and we'll see how I feel then!!
